636,127. Magnetic cores; cores for dynamoelectric machines. STIVIN, J. Feb. 27, 1947, No. 5725. Convention date, Dec. 14, 1945. Drawings to Specification. [Classes 35 and 38 (ii)] A ferro-magnetic core for high-frequency machines and apparatus comprises a mixture of small ferro-magnetic particles suspended in a liquid insulating material such as oil, the mixture being circulated through a conduit. The particles may be subjected to the influence of an electromagnetic field, generated by a 'coil wound around the conduit, so that they arrange themselves in the direction of the lines of force, thus forming a number of continuous magnetic paths which are insulated from each other to ensure good permeability of the core. The particles may be long compared with the diameter and the curved surfaces initially covered with solid insulating material. The conduit may be formed into a closed circuit having cooling equipment at one position and the mixture continually fed through the conduit thus forming a coolant for the machine or apparatus. Specification 219,703, [Class 38 (ii)], is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes an embodiment in which the insulating material is adapted to solidify so that the electromagnetic influence may be removed. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
