Abstract

635,922. Floor cleaning machines. SELINGER, J. June 30, 1947, No. 17215. [Class 138 (i)] [Also in Group XXVIII] A combined floor polisher and vacuum cleaner (see Group XXVIII) comprises a housing 5, Fig. 2, partitioned into a brush chamber 8 and a fan chamber 7 having a dustladen air inlet duct 11 and an outlet 10 leading to a dust bag connection. Brushes 23, 24, driven directly by the fan shaft 19 are mounted on bars 25, 27 pivoted at 30, 31, Fig. 3, and are disengaged from the shaft 19 by angular displacement of a bar 33 freely pivoted about the shaft 19 and to which the bars 25, 27 are connected by rods 49. The bar 33 is biassed to the shaft engaging position by a spring 46 and is manually displaced by a rod 35 having a bent end fitting in an eccentric disc 39 rocked by a lever 41. When the brushes are not in use the apparatus may rest on skids 54.
