635,651. Gas-producers. KEINANEN, S. P. J. Dec. 30, 1947, No. 34618. Convention date, Nov. 16, 1943. [Class 55 (i)] In a downdraught gas producer having a fuel container above the combustion chamber, the base of the container round the outlet orifice is formed with a peripheral gutter, the outer side of the base being exposed to the atmosphere and thereby cooled. Fuel from a container 3 is fed to the combustion chamber 1 through a preheater 2 and the outer portion 7 of the container base constituting a gutter slopes away from the preheater allowing water &c. condensed on the fuel and on a grate-like grid 8 to drain into a receptacle 9, or a collar round the orifice may prevent condensates flowing back into the combustion chamber. Air is supplied through an inlet 10 and gas withdrawn through a pipe 5.
