Abstract
549,021. Gas producer plant. DIETERICHS, W., EATON, F. J., CHAMBERLAIN, E. A. C. and HAGLEY, R. E. May 1, 1941, No. 5682. [Classes 51 (i), 51 (ii) and 55 (i)] A gas producer plant comprises a gas producer P having a grate formed of an upper fixed step g<1> and a lower step g<2> supported on a rotatable ash trough T which also provides a water seal. The air supply to the producer is heated and moistened in a heat exchanger E to which a measured amount of water is supplied, a measured amount of water being also supplied to the fixed step g<1> of the grate. Gas is withdrawn from the producer by a fan K and passes by way of a pipe p to the jacket of the heat exchanger and thence to a scrubber W. A pipe d supplies water to the scrubber, to the air admitted at e, to the heat exchanger and to the grate under the control of valves. Air from the lower part of the heat exchanger passes through the' pipe F to the producer. The producer is supplied with fuel by a hopper divided into upper and lower compartments by a partition w in which is arranged a bell b.
