[Class 89 (iii)] A hand stapler comprises a hollow handle 1 within which is housed a spring 6 bearing on the upper end of a guide 2 for a driver 3 which is secured to the handle by a pin 4 and is raised by the spring. The guide 5 extends at 2a below a magazine 10 which is pivoted at 21 for loading, and has a pusher 11 controlled by an elastic strip 12 passing around a roller 15, and a spring strip 18 for holding down the staples k. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a hand stapler in which the driver 3 is carried by a block slidable in the handle 1. The block is pressed downwards by a spring 26 which is stressed when the handle is pressed down while the block is held up by a spring pawl 31. The latter is tripped by a projection 35 on the handle to operate the driver. In a modified construction of magazine, the elastic strip is replaced by a flexible strip attached at one end to a spring drum 51 (not shown). In another construction, the magazine 10 is completely detachable being secured to the guide 2 by a vertical slide 60 or a pivoted latch 61 (not shown). This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
