Abstract

634,874. Pneumatic tyres. SPANGLER, F. Aug. 12, 1947, No. 22389. [Class 144 (i)] An electrically-operated tyre-deflation indicator comprises a piston 2 loaded, by a spring 7, against the pressure in the air-tube 5 of the tyre and fitted in a metal sleeve 1 secured to the wheel-rim 3 which forms one terminal of the operating-circuit, the piston-rod 10 being insulated from the other terminal 15 of the circuit, the circuit being automatically closed, on tyre-deflation, by the lift of an adjustable nut 14 on the rod 10 into contact with a nut clamping the (otherwise) insulated terminal 15. The closure of the detector-circuit may be utilized to operate a visual signal (such as a lamp), or an audible signal; and, it may be adapted to stop the vehicle by interruption of the motor-ignition, or brake-application.
