Abstract

Puncture and deflation, indicating, - A device for indicating deflation comprises a plunger controlled by the air-pressure in the tyre fitted with a rod 6 carrying a contact 11 which is caused to engage a contact 12, to close an electric signalling-circuit, by the reaction of a spring 13 when the pressure falls below a predetermined limit. The contact 12 is earthed through the wheel-rim, and the contact 11 is connected by a lead 14 to a slip-ring 15 mounted on the brake-drum 4a. A brush-contact 17 engaging the ring 15 and carried by a fixed bracket 18 is connected to the source of current by a lead 39. Fig. 3 shows a fitment for use with low-pressure tyres, in which the plunger 4 is in direct contact with the air-tube 5. Fig. 4 shows a modification for use with highpressure tyres, the rod 6 carrying the contact 11 being fitted with a cup-leather plunger 35 fitting a sleeve 33 which is screwed on to the ordinary valve-stem 34 and is formed with a branch 37 to receive the inflating-pump.
