Abstract

633,538. Electric welding. MALLORY METALLURGICAL PRODUCTS, Ltd., and TUCKER, N. A. Feb. 6, 1948, No. 3524. [Class 83 (iv)] A light, resistance spotwelding electrode-holder comprises a copper or copper alloy shank 1 revolubly held in a, machine frame socket and having a forked head 3a to receive a body 2 having a transverse hole 8 for receiving a copper &c. electrode rod 12 and means 11 for clamping it in the hole 8, the body being pivoted to the head 3a to swing in a plane parallel to or containing the shank axis. The body 2 may be cranked as in Fig. 1 with one limb 5 engaging in the fork 3a and pivoted on a screw 5c. The body 2 is axially bored and partly threaded for a screw 11 operated by a hexagonal rod engaging a recess therein. The hole for the electrode is enlarged (see Fig. 7, not shown) to provide wedging surfaces. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the transverse hole is not perpendicular to the body axis.
