Abstract

582,369. Holders for arc welding electrodes. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and HIGHFIELD, A. W. Sept. 13, 1944, No. 17478. [Class 39 (iii)] An arc-welding electrode-holder of the type embodying a spring-biassed switch with a handgrip control lever 16, comprises a hollow insulating body 1 with' a main electrode holding rodlike member 22 with a transverse hole 28 in the end for the electrode which is held in position between the holding member 22 and a knurled ferrule 29 adjustable in position on the member 22. The switch contacts 23, 15 are carried respectively by the holding member 22 capable of axial movement limited by a spring 25 in one direction and in the other by the ferrule 22 engaging the end of the holder body, and by a rod 7 movable axially within the body against a spring 9 on gripping the lever 16 to close the electric circuit supplied through braided conductors 11.
