Abstract

597,320. Arc welding electrode holders. SOUDURE ELECTRIQUE AUTOGENE, SOC. ANON. Aug. 14, 1945, No. 20897. Convention date, Jan. 19. [Class 39 (iii)] The hollow handle 1 of an electrode holder connected to a gas supply pipe 2, has an insulated sleeve 6 and a socket 4 to which an electric supply cable 5 is connected, the gas, e.g. oxygen, passing through the handle to a gas chamber 7 with a rubber washer 9 apertured to receive the end of an electrode with a central gas aperture held in place by a metal jaw 15 on the handle and a sliding jaw 14 through which current passes to the electrode. The sliding jaw 14 has an arm 16 with a pin-andslot connection 18 with the fixed jaw, on which is pivoted at 21 a lever 19 which engages the arm 16 at 22 and has an insulated handle 20. The washer 9 is held in place by a threaded annulus 11 with an apertured dished part 12. The electrode has an insulated coating except at one end.
