Abstract
402,442. Arc - welding torches. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of May, H. V.; 25, Edwin Street, Pittsfield, Massachusetts, U.S.A.). May 25, 1932, No. 14887. Convention date, May 27, 1931. [Class 39 (iii).] The end of the electrode 6 is secured in a member 22 arranged in a sleeve 21 having a longitudinal slot and arranged in an internally threaded tube 20. A projection 23 on the member 22 passes through the slot in the sleeve and engages the thread in the tube 20. The sleeve 21 carries a knob 27 by means of which it may be rotated to cause longitudinal movement of the electrode. The device is used in connection with holders of the kind described in Specification 297,032, [Class 39 (iii), Heating by electricity], a flange 25 enabling it to be mounted on a holder. In a torch as described in Specification 402,440 two adjusting tubes 20 are arranged longitudinally in the handle of the torch. One tube is pivotally supported with respect to the other to enable the arc to be struck. Specification 237,898, [Class 39 (iii), Heating by electricity], also is referred to.
