[Class 39 (iii)] A hand arc torch comprises two electrodes 19 mounted in electrode holders 17a, 17c fitting on the slotted ends of rods 15a, 15c insulated from each other and in pivotal relationship about a common axis whereon gripping insulated handles 6, 16, the electrodes can be made to contact each other to strike an arc and then on relaxing the grip a spring 23 tends to separate the electrodes so maintaing an arc for use in heating, soldering, welding, &c. A stop 21 limits the movement. of the handle lever 16. Electric leads connect to the handle 6 and the insulated metal annulus 9 carrying the handle lever 16 and rod 15a.
