Abstract

562,474. Hand contact - appliances. ALLEN, H., and WOLRAJ.CH, B. and KOSKY, L. (trading as ANGEL GLASS WORKS). Sept. 18, 1942, No. 13214. [Class 38 (i)] A magnetic device for holding a welding contact electrode 17 in contact with the work 26, consists of a magnet, the limbs 10 of which are disposed between two opposite end plates 14, 15, of which 14 forms the yoke and 15 the polepieces. The magnet limbs are preferably semi-cylindrical members connected by non- magnetic spacing pieces 11 and are turned about a tubular bushing 13 connected to the end plates so as to open or short circuit the magnetic flux therethrough. The welding electrode is mounted in the bushing 13 and is pressed into contact with the work by a spring 25, its axial movement being limited by a collar 23 and recess 24 in the bushing.
