Abstract
Nickel-aluminium foraminate catalysts containing carbon are prepared by extracting a nickel-aluminium alloy containing 30 to 65 per cent by weight of nickel and carbon in an amount less than 0.02 per cent by weight with an aqueous solution of caustic alkali so as to remove 0.5 to 75 per cent by weight of the total aluminium pressure. The preferred alkali is caustic soda of 0.1 to 30 per cent by weight strength. When less than 75 per cent by weight of aluminium is initially extracted reactivation is effected by a subsequent extraction up to a maximum of 75 per cent by weight of aluminium originally present.ALSO:An alloy of nickel-aluminium containing 30 to 65 per cent by weight of nickel and carbon in an amount less than 0.02 per cent by weight is treated with aqueous caustic alkali to remove 0.5 to 75 per cent by weight of the total aluminium present.
