[Class 39(iii)] A separable induction heating work coil comprises two or more fully independent portions 4, 5, each surrounding a half or corresponding portion of the workpiece 1, and having separate supply conductors 8, 8<SP>1</SP>, 9, 9<SP>1</SP>, connected to secondaries 10, 11, inductively coupled to a primary, or oscillator output, coil 12 and wound and connected so that the currents induced in the workpiece by each portion of the work coil, have the same direction. The two, or more, portions of the work coil are separable in the direction of the arrows A, B to allow a workpiece of the shape shown to be inserted or withdrawn from the work coil, the corresponding secondaries 10, 11 moving longitudinally away from each other.
