Abstract

621,081. Induction heating. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., HUMBER, Ltd., NELSON, H. M., and THORLEY, T. Dec. 17, 1946, No. 37130. [Class 39(iii)] A concentator intended to provide uniform heating of a workpiece comprises a split ring or cylinder 4 connected to the secondary 2 of a transformer by conduits 5, 6. The concentator 4 is so dimensioned as to provide a greater longitudinal dimension l 2 opposite the slit, as shown in Fig. 2. In this manner the flux is spread out opposite the slit and reduced to the magnitude of the flux adjacent the slit. In a modification, the slit is inclined to the axis of the concentator.
