[Class 126] In a magazine cooking-stove of the kind described in Specification 553,663 in which air is supplied to the lower and upper ends of the fuel column, the conduit for the upper supply is arranged in the side wall of the stove instead of passing through the fuel column. As shown the stove, fitted with a hopper 4 projecting downwardly into a combustion chamber 1, and formed integral with a hot plate 5, has an air supply chamber 10, disposed on a level with the grate 2 and communicating with the atmosphere via a thermostatically controlled air inlet damper 12, connected by the channel 9 with the lower combustion zone of the fireplace and by the channel 15 and passages 16 and 17 with the top of the fuel column. When the temperature of the hot plate decreases the damper 12, actuated by the thermostat 13, opens allowing more air into the chamber 10, a considerable part of which increase passes to the top of the fuel column to provide maximum heat-output conditions beneath the hot plate. The air supply channels 9 and 15 may have separate inlets communicating with the outer air and the air supply thereto may be manually adjusted. More than one hot plate may be provided.
