629,290. Reciprocating pumps for liquids. TRUMECK, Ltd., and WALTON, J. I. AUSTIN-. Oct. 29, 1946, No. 32115. [Class 102(i)] A pump, particularly for liquids, comprises a piston 11 movable in a cylinder 1 by an operating shaft 10 extending axially through the cylinder and piston and rotatable relatively thereto,' means such as a cam groove 13 and follower 14 for converting the rotary movement into axial movement of the piston along the shaft and inlet and outlet passages 5, 6 controlled by a valve formed by a flat 17 on or a groove in an extension of the shaft which fits a reduced end of the cylinder and opens and closes the passages 5, 6 alternately. As shown, the cam groove 13 is formed in an enlarged part of the piston which is operatively connected to the shaft 10 by a pin 16 fixed thereto and slidable in slots 15 in the shaft To permit unrestricted flow, the passages 5, 6 and the passage in the valve are of equal cross-sectional areas.
