Abstract

1386085 Reciprocating pumps MARCH MFG CO 2 Feb 1972 [30 Aug 1971] 56073/71 Heading F1A [Also in Division F2] A pump, e.g. for caustic or acidic liquids, comprises a piston 40, e.g. of P.T.F.E. with a molybdenum or graphite filler, reciprocated in a cylinder 14, e.g. of porcelain, by an adjustable-stroke mechanism comprising a motor-driven eccentric 50 connected by a crank-pin 49 to a link 47 pivoted at 46 to a link 43 connected to piston 40 at first 44, the first pin 46 being guided in an arcuate groove 55 in a member 56 which is angularly adjustable about the eccentric drive shaft axis to vary the stroke. Graduations 61 indicate the stroke setting, member 56 being moved (by handle 59 and locked by screw 60. The inlet and outlet check valves 21A, 21B are axially ribbed and have chromic magnets 24A, 24B which are repelled by magnets 27A, 27B in screwed plugs 26A, 26B to bias the valves closed, the biasing force being adjustable by axial adjustment of plugs 26A, 26B.
