Abstract

628,632. Suction cleaners. FERGUSON RADIO CORPORATION, Ltd., and HODGES, G. F. Jan. 23, 1947, No. 2188. [Class 8(i)] A fan suction cleaner of the kind having mounted in a nozzle 22 thereof a brush 23 rotated by the fan motor has a beating attachment 42 constituting part of a nozzle sole plate 34, and vibrated by the motor about a horizontal axis 45 so as to impart substantially vertical oscillations to a beating member 44 displaced horizontally from the axis 45. The attachment 42 is of plate form having an edge 46 engaging a rubber sealing strip 47 and is actuated through an eccentric friction roller 48 mounted on a pin 49 carried by rigid arms 50 fixed to the plate 42. The frequency of vibration is about 40 per second and the amplitude of the beating member 44 is 0.025 inch. The cleaner has a pivoted handle 30 upwardly biassed by torsion springs 31.
