584,478. Vacuum cleaners. EUREKA VACUUM CLEANER CO. Dec. 19, 1944, No. 25470. Convention date, Dec. 22, 1943. Drawings to Specification. [Class 8 (i)] [Also in Group XXIII] The rotary agitator of a vacuum cleaner is provided with a set of stiff bristles which beat and agitate the carpet lifted by the suction, and a set of more flexible bristles which sweep the carpet without moving it from the lifted position. The more flexible bristles may be initially longer than the others. The height of the agitator may be adjusted to compensate for wear by rotation 'of a cam against which the agitator bearings are held by the tension of the driving belt.
