627,900. Recording-apparatus; pressure gauges. SUBMARINE SIGNAL CO. May 2, 1947, No. 11849. Convention date, Dec. 18, 1941. [Classes 106 (ii) and 106 (iv)] [Also in Group XX] A bathythermograph of the kind described in Specification 627,490 comprises a stylus 8 operated by a Bourdon tube 7 connected with a temperature-responsive element 25, which records the temperature of sea water on a record plate 30 moved in accordance with the depth by a pressure - responsive element 36. The plate 30 is removably mounted in a frame 31 supported on a bracket 32 extending normally from a plate 33 secured - to the piston 35 of the pressure - responsive element and is held in its frame by spring fingers 44, 45. The finger 44 is supported on an arm 46 having a cut-away portion in which the stylus arm 8 rests when the point 29 is in contact with the plate, and by withdrawal of the spring 44 from its slot and rotation of the arm 46 about its own axis the stylus may be lifted clear of the plate to enable the latter to be withdrawn without being marked by the point 29.
