In a Bourdon type pressure gauge one end of the Bourdon tube 1 is secured in a recess 70 Fig. 4 (not shown) of a member 3 provided with an arm 69 held in position in a recess 4 formed on the body of the gauge. The arm 69 may be serrated at 80. The adjustment of the pointer 42, Fig. 2 (not shown), driven by a helical gear 41 through a pivoted quadrant 18, is effected by a screw 26 which moves the quadrant axially of the helical gear 41. A transparent disc 65, held in position on the back of the gauge body 5 by a bulbous flange 66, Fig. 7 (not shown), engaging an annular recess 67 is arranged to blow away from the gauge body 5 before the front window 53 in the event of a leak occurring in the tube 1. The quadrant 18 may be replaced by a further quadrant Fig. 8 (not shown), should the gauge be used to indicate pressure below atmosphere.
