Headings G1D and G1L Tubing to facilitate reading the liquid level in instruments such as barometers, monometers and thermometers comprises a transparent tube 10 having a position 13 of 90 degrees sector shaped cross-section projecting into and extending longitudinally of the bore 11 and an opaque coloured part 15 on the tube 10 opposite the apex 14 of the sector 13. When the bore 11 contains air a light ray on path a is reflected at the tube bore interface, as shown, but when the bore 11 contains liquid a light ray b will pass through the tube bore interface as shown, and the colour of the part 15 is seen.
