804,424. Photo-electric pressure gauges. NORTH THAMES GAS BOARD. Oct. 4, 1956 [Sept. 15, 1955], No. 26452/55. Class 40 (3). In a U-tube manometer containing a translucent liquid, light is directed on to one limb of the manometer on both sides of the liquid surface in that limb, and that part of the light which passes through the liquid forms on a photo-cell an elongated image which varies in length with the position of the liquid surface. In a modification, photo-cells are associated with both limbs of the manometer and are connected in a measuring circuit to give an indication of the difference in liquid level between the two limbs.
