Abstract

550,123. Piezo-electric crystals. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. (Naamlooze Vennootschap Philips' Gloeilampenfabrieken). Nov. 26, 1941, No. 15249. [Class 40 (v)] In a pressure indicator in which pressure is measured in terms of the E.M.F. produced when a piezo-electric crystal is compressed through the medium of a diaphragm, the sensitivity and linearity are increased by subjecting the crystal to a preliminary pressure by means of an adjustable spring, which thus relieves the diaphragm of strain. Pressure is applied through a diaphragm 2 and member 6 to crystals 3, 4 supported by an adjustable member 8. The E.M.F. is taken off by a plate 7 and lead 7A. Preliminary pressure is applied by three dish springs 5 supported on a shoulder on a bush 1 and acting on member 6 the pressure being adjustable by member 8.
