Abstract

627,561. Gear-wheel pumps. PRECISION DEVELOPMENTS CO., Ltd., and OLAH, G. Feb. 28, 1946, No. 6258. Addition to 593,620. [Class 110(ii)] The pump described in the parent Specification in which shallow pockets 22 contain oil under pressure to prevent contact between the casing end walls 7 and the sides of the gears, is modified by having supply passages formed by intersecting bores within the material of the casing. Gears 1 rotate within a casing centre plate 4 having intake and delivery chambers 26 27. Radial passages 52, 57 connect one end of each pocket 22 with the bearing of the associated gear 1, using intermediate axial passages 53, 58. An annular groove 54 may be provided around a bearing. Oil is supplied to the bearings 5 through bores 55, intersecting axial bores 59 which penetrate the end surface of plate 7 just outside the root surface of the gears 1. The pockets 22 may be of uniform depth or tapered.
