Abstract
626,978. Milk &c. coolers. EDWARDS, L. M., and GALLONE, A. Oct. 18, 1947, No. 31489/46. [Class 64(iii)] In liquid-cooling apparatus of the kind comprising a heat-insulated cabinet 1 having a series of cooling pipes 4 connected with a cooling plant, a container 3 in close proximity to the pipes and means for distributing the liquid, e.g. milk or ice cream mix, to be cooled, so that it flows down the inside of the wall of the container, the distributing means comprise one or an odd number of hollow discs 8, 10, 14 through which flows cooling fluid and over which the milk flows radially. Milk from the supply pipe 16 flows over the convex upper surface of the first disc 14 and from its periphery on to the concave upper surface of the second disc 10 below, where it flows inwardly to a central opening 10b to be distributed on to the convex surface of the third disc 8 and so on. From the periphery of the last disc the milk flows on to the container wall. The discs are loosely fitted together and enclosed by a cover 17 having openings 17a extending throughout its depth to accommodate the cooling-liquid circulation pipes 18, 19, 20, 21.
