Abstract

1346590 Cooling liquids MK REFRIGERATION Ltd 19 Oct 1971 [23 Oct 1970] 50592/70 Heading F4H In a liquid cooling and dispensing apparatus, e.g. beverages, the liquid or liquids to be cooled passes through respective coils 10, 11 which are mounted in separate compartments 12, 13 and are immersed in a cooled heat exchange liquid e.g. water from a tank 15 thereabout housing the evaporator 18a of a compression refrigeration system 18 and supplied to the compartments in accordance with the temperature of the beverage. On termination of beverage withdrawal the water drains through apertures 26 in the compartment walls back in to the tank. Pumps 22, 23 for the water are connected by pipes 24, 25 to the respective compartments and are controlled by respective thermostats 33 and sensors 32, or in a modification a single pump having a plurality of valve controlled outlets may be used. In a further modification, drainage may be effected by a syphon arrangement instead of the apertures 26. The maximum level of the water in each compartment is controlled and heat exchange may be effected by spraying the water over coils which are mounted above the level of the tank so that the water drains directly back thereto.
