Abstract

In a dairy installation for treating milk, cream, &c comprising one or more centrifuges and other apparatus such as heat regenerators, pasteurizers, and coolers, the liquid or liquids is or are led from the centrifugal bowl by a pipe or pipes fluid tightly connected thereto, whereby the liquid is closed to the atmosphere during its passage from the centrifuge and the formation of foam is prevented. Preferably the inlet pipe is also connected to the bowl in a fluidtight manner. The pipes may be connected to the bowl by means of stuffing boxes, the supply conveniently taking place through a boring in the shaft carrying the bowl, and the outlet through a pipe situated on the axis of rotation so as to permit rotation of the bowl. If more than one outlet is provided, the pipes are arranged concentrically.
