Abstract

626,908. Slips, dresses, &c. McABEE, F. R. Jan. 4, 1947, No. 336. Convention date, May 19, 1945. [Class 141] A garment e.g. slip, comprising an upper portion and a skirt portion with seams at the centre back and front, is formed from two similar blanks 10, preferably cut on the bias, each having an incision at waist level bounded by non-parallel lines 34, 35, the curvature of which may be varied. When the garment is scwn up, the incision forms a dart extending upwardly from the rear seam to a point adjacent the front seam to shape the bust portion. An additional shaping dart may be formed at the front of the garment by joining lines 27, 28. In a modification, each blank may be formed of two pieces of material having corresponding parts of their adjacent edges similarly shaped to the edges 34, 35 so that the seam joining them functions in the same manner as the dart.
