[Class 141] An undergarment such as " briefs " is given fullness of shape in the front by the provision of two lower outer edges that extend downwardly inwards, a lower edge that crosses from one of the outside edges to the' other and darts cut in both of said outside edges and which are closed by stitching. In the case of. " briefs," shown in front view in Fig. 1, the garment may comprise a rear section joined at the sides to the side edges 6 of two front sections 3, 4 shown respectively in Figs. 4, 3. A narrow hem-like band 5 defines each leg hole and the three sections are joined at their upper edges at 7 to a waistband. In front the section 3 overlaps the section 4. Each section 3, 4 has two lower outside edges 8 which extend downwardly inwards, and two lower inside edges 16, a lower edge 15 which crosses from one of these edges to the other and darts 12 in the edges 8, 16, the edges of which are stitched together to impart the desired fullness. The sections 3, 4 coincide with one another below a line A above the level of the darts 12, and the darts are closed and sections 3, 4 are joined, in that position to the section 2. The invention is also applicable to garments having short or full length legs.
