[Class 141] A tubular garment, e.g., a skirt, dress, or slacks, of the type provided with waist adjustment means for maternity wear, is, provided with two flaps extending inwards from the lateral edges of a front or back panel. As shown; a skirt has flaps b<1>, b<2> extending inwardly over the central front portion e from the lines c<1> c<2>. When it is desired to reduce the waist size the flaps b', b<2> are brought inwardly to the required extent. Fig. 1 shows a position in which the flaps are brought together, the material of the front e being folded back along the lines c', c<2> to form concealed pleats d<2>, d'. The flaps are secured to the waistband by buttons f, hooks and eyes g<2> also being provided, if desired. The plies of the pleats are secured together by press studs &c. g<1>. To reduce the waist still further, the flaps b<1>, b<2> are overlapped to the required degree, the position of the fastening means being also adjusted. In the case of bifurcated garments, the flaps extend only to a point at which the bifurcation commences, and for dresses, the flaps are continued into the upper portion.
