810,855. Skirts &c for maternity wear. CANTON, I. Oct. 14, 1957 [Oct. 13, 1956], No. 31242/56. Class 141 In a skirt, dress or slacks for maternity wear, an abdominal panel 15 with vertical pleats 17, 18 is inserted in an opening 16 to give added fullness to the garment. In Fig. 4, the panel 15 has a medial box-pleat 17 and two outer single pleats 18, the upper edges of the pleats being secured to waistband sections 12, 13, 13 respectively which bridge the gap between the ends of the main waistband section 11. Each of the sections 12, 13 is provided with at least two buttons 14 so that the garment can be progressively expanded. The downwardly convex lower edge of the panel is secured to the garment by one row of permanent stitching and two rows of temporary stitching which can be removed in turn to provide extra fullness in the vertical direction. The full-lengh opening 10 at the back of the wrap-over skirt is fastened by buttons &c.
