Abstract
598,031. Skirts. MORTON, M. I. Aug. 29, 1945, No. 22253. [Class 141] A garment of the type having an adjustable waistline, e.g., for maternity wear, has one or more vertical panels extending downwards from the waist, each having a flap extending outwardly from each vertical edge and adapted to be fastened to the garment. As shown, a skirt has a panel a in the front. The flaps b' and b<2>, which may extend up to the waistline, are secured in the desired position by buttons g. Loops e are provided for a belt which holds pleats f<1>, f in position. The waist measurement is decreased by increasing the size of the pleats f<1>, f<2> which may overlap each other; the buttons g being shifted to correspond. When the invention is applied to bifurcated garments or to garments with upper parts, the pleats merge into the garment at their lower or upper ends.
