Abstract

626,560. Wheeled parcel carriers. MATHEWS, O. NOBLE-, and CADDIECAR, Ltd. May 30, 1947, No. 14390. [Class 108 (i)] A wheeled carrier for golf-bags &c. comprises a main tubular frame-member 1 adapted to support the golf-bag &c., an actuating- rod 6 slidable axially within the tubular member 1 under the pivoting action of the propelling handle 5 and the link 7, and a pair of legs 4 each pivoted at one end to the tubular member 1 and having a ground-wheel 3 at its other end. The legs 4 are connected through links 14 to a sleeve 12 secured to the actuating rod 6, so that when the handle 5 is swung downwardly to collapse it against the member 1, the legs 4 are also collapsed against the sleeve 12. The legs 4 are preferably tubular and house operating rods 16 which cause the axles 19 carrying the ground-wheels 3 to pivot about the pin 18 when the legs 4 are collapsed against the sleeve 12. During the collapsing operation the swivel bracket 17 is also caused to rotate about the axis of the leg 4, by the pin- and-slot 24, 25. This combined movement ensures that the wheels 3 rotate in vertical planes when the carrier is collapsed.
