Abstract

622,545. Folding hand-trucks. WELCH, O. J. J. I., and MERTENS, A. P. J. March 24, 1947, No. 7953. [Class 108 (i)] A folding hand-truck for use in transporting suitcases, shopping baskets, wickerwork chairs for carrying very young children, and like articles, comprises a central rod or tube 1a to which are pivoted upper and lower pairs of arms 3a and 3b having their outer ends pivoted to anglesection side members 2, which when extended lie parallel with, and when folded nearly parallel with, the central member 1a. A disc 5, slidable on the member 1a, acts to lock the arms 3b in the open position and angle-section bars 6 pivoted to the flanges of members 2 may be erected to support the load. A strut 1b and a hanger 1c are also pivoted to the central member 1a, the end of which may be in the form of a crook.
