Abstract

976,891. Collapsible push-chairs. HUBCAR (BIRMINGHAM) Ltd. Nov. 26, 1963 [Dec. 4, 1962], No. 45756/62. Heading B7B. A collapsible push-chair has a rigid seatsupporting frame 10 to which is pivotally attached the links 17 carrying the rear wheels 11, members 20 to which the handle 13 is pivoted at 27, and links 19 also pivotally connetted to the handle 13 and the links 18 carrying the front wheels. The links 20 are extended beyond the pivot axis with the frame to carry links 21 to which the foot-rest frame members 22 are pivoted. The foot-rest may be moved from the Fig. 1 position where it is supported by transverse frame members to the Fig. 2 position where the catches 24 on the members 22 engage the lower part 15 of the frame 10. Further upward movement of the foot-rest will enable the catches 24 to engage over the inclined members 25 to retain the foot-rest in a horizontal position. The pushchair is collapsed by releasing the catches 28 between the handle 13 and the links 20, depressing the handle 13, thus spreading the front and rear wheels apart, such collapsing being independent of the position of the foot-rest. Rubber pads 29 are provided so that when collapsed the push-chair may be stood on end with the pads 29 and front wheels 11 on the ground.
