Abstract

639,439. Folding push-chairs. MIRECKI, A. Feb. 27, 1948, No. 5905. [Class 108 (i)] A folding push-chair with a collapsable parallelogrammic superstructure 3, 4, 7 is characterised by the handle supports 12 being pivoted at 14 to the members 4 supporting the back rest 5, and extending beyond the pivotal connections so that studs 16 may slidably engage longitudinal slots or guideways 17 in normally horizontal side members of the superstructure, such as the side arms 7, whereby the handle supports 12 are folded automatically with the superstructure. The forward ends 18 of the slots 17 are turned upwardly and the handle supports 12 are curved so that the latter lie against the folded superstructure. Folding struts 8 lock the structure when extended, rearward extensions 11 being provided to facilitate operation of the struts by hand or foot. The foot-rest 19 is formed with a finger opening 20, or with a handle for carrying purposes, while the chassis has rearward extensions 21 which, with the rear wheels 2, serve as supports for the folded structure, as shown in Fig. 3.
