625,399. Bed settees. COORSH, D., COORSH, S., and McLEISH, T. July 30, 1947, No. 20579. [Class 52 (ii)] A bed settee comprises a seat 2 pivoted at 3 to the frame 1, an articulated mattress 7, 8, 9, 10 the end section 7 being pivoted at 28 to brackets 27 on the frame 1 and a back cushion 19 pivoted at the top 20 to rods 21 slidable vertically in guides 22 and pivoted at 24 to a link 23 the other end of which is pivoted at 25 to brackets 26 on the frame 1. To convert the settee into bed position the back cushion 19 is slid upwardly and its lower end is rotated anticlockwise by the aid of a spring 15. The seat 2 is then swung over forwardly causing the mattress sections 7-10 to be raised into position by links 12, 13, 14 assisted by springs 16, 17 and the seat to be supported in reversed position by legs 4 and its pivotal connection 3. A pillow rest 11 is provided pivoted to the end mattress section 10 and having springs 18 which tend to hold the rest 11 either in erected or in folded position according to the disposition of the springs on either side of the dead centre.
