[Class 83 (iii)] [Also in Group XXIV] Mechanism for giving intermittent feed to a machine-tool comprises a cam a having several steps a<SP>1</SP> for imparting intermittent rotary movement to a rocker arm d either directly or through a spring-loaded lever c having a roller b, this movement being transmitted through a spring-loaded clutch d<SP>2</SP>, g, pawl r<SP>1</SP> and ratchet r to a sleeve h and thence to a feed-shaft n by a spring-loaded clutch h<SP>1</SP>, j<SP>1</SP>, a sleeve k and bevelgears m, m<SP>1</SP>. To give rapid constant feed, the sleeve k can be connected through bevel-gears s, t to a shaft u by moving the clutch-member j to disengage the clutch h<SP>1</SP>, j<SP>1</SP> and engage a clutch j<SP>2</SP>, s<SP>1</SP>. The lever c is adjusted along its pivot c<SP>1</SP> to engage the roller b with the required step of the cam by means of a spindle v having a spiral gear v<SP>1</SP> meshing with a spiral gear v<SP>2</SP> on the boss of the lever.
