Abstract
440,549. Lathes. PITTLER WERKZEUGSMASCHINENFABRIK AKT. - GES., Wahren, Leipsic, Germany. June 27, 1935, No. 18442. Convention date, Oct. 13, 1934. [Class 83 (iii)] An automatic lathe having high and low speed drives for the feed shaft 10 controlling the turret slide has the low speed derived from a gear 1 coaxial with the feed shaft and connected through shaft 3, gear 4, epicyclic gearing 5, 6, gear 7 and roller clutch 8 to a member 9 keyed to the feed shaft. The high speed is derived directly from the gear 1 through a friction clutch 12, the low speed being overrun when this clutch is engaged. The clutch sleeve 11 is operated automatically through lever mechanism from dogs 17, 17<a> on a wheel secured to the main control shaft 15.
