[Class 83 (iii)] [Also in Group XXIV] The speed of a lathe chuck 87 is controlled automatically in accordance with the radial position of a tool 88 by the lateral movement of the cross slide 83 acting through a lever 89 on the control member 86 of an expanding- pulley gearing (see Group XXIV) mounted in the lathe drive. The pivot point 90 of the lever 89 is adjustable on the lathe frame. A manual control handle 85 for the gearing is provided.
