Abstract
759,836. Change-speed control. FISHER & LUDLOW, Ltd. Feb. 23, 1954 [Nov. 29, 1952], No. 13628/52. Class 80(2) [Also in Groups VIII and XXIII] In a washing machine (see Group VIII) a low or high speed unidirectional rotation or an oscillatory rotation is imparted to a shaft 35 by means of two movable clutch elements 70, 87 operated by means of pivoted forks 88, 89 respectively. The fork 88 is connected by a link 91, a cam plate 92 and bevel gearing (Fig. 8, not shown) to a control shaft 95 and knob 96. The cam plate 92 also controls the parts 89, recesses 97...100 on the cam plate being engaged by a detent 101 on the fork 89 under the bias of a spring 102. In the position shown both clutch elements 70, 87 are in neutral. When knob 96 is turned so that detent 101 engages recess 98, clutch element 70 engages an oscillating clutch element 69, element 87 remaining in neutral. When detent 101 engages recess 99, clutch element 70 engages a high speed driving element 73 and clutch 87 is in neutral. Clutch element 87 is slidably but non rotatably mounted on a driving sleeve 27 and when detent 101 engages in the recess 100 element 87 engages a. clutch element 86 secured to the shaft 35.
