Abstract

1401901 Variable speed gearing VOLKSWAGENWERK AG 22 March 1973 [29 March 1972] 13801/73 Heading F2D A variable ratio gear-box is controlled by linkage comprising first and second parallel shafts 1, (2) Fig. 1 (not shown) gear lever motion being transmitted by the second (2) to the first 1 on which is rigidly mounted a two armed lever 3, one arm 7 of which engages (e.g. by an elastomeric end 9 with a wear ring 11) with clearance in a pocket 12 on the gear-box end of the shaft (2) from which extends a further arm 13 which is connected via a link 16 to the other arm 8 of the lever 3. As shown in Fig. 3 the axis of the shaft (2) passes through the centre of the end 9.
