Abstract
624,160. Draught excluder. BUCHANAN, J. R. July 8, 1947, No. 17973. [Class. 20(iii)] A draught strip of rubber or like resilient material for use, e.g. on the lower ends of doors has an upper part 1 which is relatively thick with a side 2 which lies on the face of the door. The side 3 has a projecting bead 4 at a distance above the lower edge 5 of the strip. A slot 6 in the side 2 extends into the bead 4 which is thus hollowed. The dimension at 7 is relatively small and the rib thus readily bendable; by means of this hinge-like connection between upper and lower parts the relatively thin lower part 8 can swing readily and yield itself to the irregularities of the floor. In modifications, the bead may be omitted, the groove having correspondingly less depth or it may be horizontal in cross section. In an' alternative form the slot may have one long standing side and a short horizontal one. In all fore-mentioned instructions there may be included a second slot for additional resiliency along the side 3 lower than the slot 6. The part. 8 may be tapered at one or both sides.
