Abstract
583,617. Draught excluders. PORTER, F. R. Nov. 8, 1944, No. 21951. [Class 20 (iii)] In draught excluding means the edge of a closure such as a door, window or the like, and its adjacent frame are provided one with a bevelled surface at an angle to the normal edge surface of the closure and the other with a recess in which is held part of the width of a strip of resilient material by a removable batten, a part of the strip projecting for engagement by the bevelled edge when the closure is shut, the recess, resilient strip and batten being parallel with one edge, and the strip projecting in such a manner that it is stretched in the direction of its width by the bevelled edge. As shown, a door jamb 26 is recessed at 17 and a resilient strip 18 is held therein by the batten 19, with a portion 22 projecting therefrom and engaged by the bevelled edge 13 of the door. A strip 25 may be attached to the jamb to conceal the packing strip when the door is shut. At the foot of the door strip 18 is held in a recess so that it makes contact with the floor or door-step.
