622,850. Stuffing-boxes. TRIST & CO., Ltd., R., and McLACHLAN, A. C. March 7, 1947, No. 6486. Drawings to Specification. [Class 122(v)] A stuffing-box for a rotary shaft is packed by one or more axially split cup leather packing rings which fit closely around the shaft but are of such external diameter that when placed in the box they do not contact the wall of the box, but are expanded into contact with the box by axial pressure. A soft impregnated packing is interposed between the end rings and the housing and the gland.
