Abstract

622,794. Chair backs. TALBOYS MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., and MAY, D. E. April 10, 1947, No. 9508. [Class 52 (ii)] A back rest which may be swung to an out of use position behind a chair comprises a U- shaped frame 3 having its ends bifurcated to straddle bracket plates 4 attached to a cross tube 2 of the chair. The bifurcated ends carry pivot pins 5 passing through L-shaped slots 6 in the brackets 4. The brackets are formed with abutments 7, 8, one abutment 8 holding the back in its upright position. To move the back rest to an out of use position it is moved forward till it engages the abutment 7 when further forward movement causes the pin 5 to move to the angle of the slot 6 when the back may be raised and swung downwardly over the abutment 8
