Abstract

622,738. Furnace fronts. MELDRUMS, Ltd., and WRIGHT, A. N. March 8, 1946, Nos. 7288 and 14784. [Class 51 (i)] In a mechanical stoker of the overfeed type applied to the combustion chamber of a shell boiler, a sprinkler box 13 containing the stoker mechanism, driven through gearing from an electric motor 16, and an, air supply fan 14 are attached to a circular casting 12 forming the front of said combustion chamber. Said casting 12 is provided with a fuel supply opening 22, an inspection opening 23 normally closed by a door 24 and a primary air opening 25. Surrounding the openings 22 and 23, are secondary air spaces leading to delivery ports 33, 34 and 35 and controlled by a pivoted damper 36 operated by a handle 44 through bevel gearing.
